Paparoa Range School Swimming Sports 2019

After the swimming sports the learners in Ruma 4 worked co operatively and wrote a recount of the day using google docs.
We discussed what recount writing involves - it tells when, where, who, what and is ordered sequentially.
It was amazing to see everyone working on the same writing simultaneously. Read our shared writing.

On Thursday 28th February the Paparoa Range School swimming sports were held at the Blackball pool.

The Dobson pupils travelled on the bus to Blackball school.
On the way to Blackball the bus got stuck in road works.

When the Dobson students arrived at Blackball school we had assembly.
First the teachers handed out some certificates. At the assembly,
the prize draw was held and two people got pulled out, Stella and Nixon.
Then the PB4L team did some role plays showing the children
something wrong and then how to fix it up.
After assembly the year fives to eights had a game of Capture the Flag.
It was a really good game because people played fairly.

The year 1- 4s went to the Blackball pool first to do their races.
At the Blackball pool there were dead and real live insects on the bottom
of the freezing, cold pool.

Some of the different races were duck dive, underwater swim,
kickboard, freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.

The children enjoyed swimming and having races.

Next time the sports should do it earlier in the term so the pool
will be warmer and have a few more races.
